About Laura Cope

After many years teaching and offering pastoral support in secondary schools, I decided to train as a counsellor. I have been counselling now for many years, and find my work very rewarding. For several years I worked part-time as a counsellor for an education authority, and now I run a private practice from my home in Oxford.

I am a fully accredited counsellor: a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors. I abide by the Code of Ethics published by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

My professional standards

During counselling I will:

  • Respect your values and choices
  • Help you to work towards living in a way that satisfies you
  • Hear and support you
  • Offer space and time exclusively for you
  • Provide you with an environment that feels safe
  • Give you privacy and confidentiality
  • Work with you with integrity and respect

I offer counselling for a wide range of problems. I am particularly experienced in the areas of:

  • Abuse
  • Autistic spectrum conditions
  • Cancer and other life-threatening illnesses
  • Difficult personal and professional relationships
  • Eating disorders
  • Loss and bereavement

I have certificates in loss, bereavement and couples counselling.

Client feedback

To ensure that the counselling service you receive meets the professional standards I set out to achieve, comments are very welcome.
